Lidl Food Academy continues its deed by offering cooking classes to children!
In recent years, Lidl Academy has accustomed us to creative Saturday mornings, which not only fill our lives with deliciousness and pleasure, but also provide us with valuable knowledge about nutrition, cooking and the role of food in our daily lives. As from this month, the Academy takes a step further and offers the same knowledge and pleasure to children, under the auspices and support of the Cyprus Dietetic & Nutician Association.
Something new and exciting is currently taking place at the Academy every Saturday afternoon – Creative Workshops for little chefs, meaning creative cooking classes for children. Through the two classes offered every Saturday at the Academy, one at 3pm for children 6-8 years old and one at 5pm for children 9-12 years old, our younger friends have the opportunity to develop their social skills, get acquainted with cooking and confectionery, as well as being aware of their diet, learning important facts about food waste and the origin of food.
Responsible for the classes is Psychologist/ Special Educator Christiana Kythreotou along with her educational team which consists of two preschool teachers, while the classes will also be attended by the dietitian – nutritionist of the Academy. During the classes, parents will have the opportunity to talk to Ms Kythreotou and learn about nutrition and how they can improve their family’s eating habits.
The classes cover a rich array of topic, such as My Children’s Party, Madness with Cookies, Art and taste with Vegetables, Italians for a Day, etc., which introduce children to a healthy, quality diet and the world of culinary art in a fun, educational and creative way. Naturally, like all the classes at the Academy, the series of Little Chefs classes is open to everyone within the definined ages, offered free of charge by Lidl Cyprus, and is conducted using quality materials that everyone can find in Lidl stores.
The classes follow all the health protocols while Lidl Cyprus offers a free rapid test to all participants before each class. The classes are already very popular and due to the fact that spaces are limited, the selection for participation is made after a draw.
