Hellenic Bank invests in sustainable development and leads the transition to a Green Economy by adopting sustainable operating practices, financing of “green” businesses and participating in green initiatives. In particular, the Bank implements social, environmental and economic risk assessment criteria in its approval process for new loans, while it established a dedicated sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) team.

Speaking during the conference, Neophytos Stefanou, Relationship Officer of Hellenic Bank, explained that the Bank’s shift towards Renewable Energy is reflected in three pillars: Sustainability Strategy, Green Economy and Green Financing.

As he noted, Hellenic Bank is committed to promoting sustainable business development by combining economic growth with environmental and social responsibility and good governance practices. The Bank aims to lead the shift towards a Green Economy, with renewables having a crucial role in this transition. The Bank has set up a specialized team for financing investments in renewable energy projects where potential investors can apply for financing. As he mentioned, Hellenic Bank has so far granted a very significant number of loans in green energy, while in the last 2 years the loans granted to renewable energy projects exceeded € 130 million.

Moreover, Mr Stefanou analyzed in detail the financing procedure that Hellenic Bank follows for renewable energy projects to be included in the Competitive Electricity Market and provided useful and practical information on the general financing package.
