Hellenic Bank celebrates Earth Day with the message “Together for something good”, by offering pots, soil and seeds to locals, so as to grow their own plants

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than sowing the seeds for the future forests?

Within the framework of its collaboration with Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition, Hellenic Bank celebrated this day by gifting small pots, soil and seeds to locals in Athalassa Park in Nicosia and in the Limassol Pier on Saturday, 16^th of April and Sunday, 17^th of April respectively, encouraging them to grow the plants in their yards or balconies.

At the same time, another surprise awaited Media representatives in their offices, which were filled with beautiful exotic plants and a note to spread the message on environment protection and reforestation effort.

The public, as well as the Media representatives were overwhelmed with excitement, while a lot of videos and photos from the activations were shared in Social Media with the #PlantItForward and #WorldEarthDay.

Through this initiative Hellenic Bank demonstrated once again its active participation in Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition, which is supporting the global effort to restore forests, which this year includes the planting of 1000 trees in Cyprus.

Over the years, the protection of the environment has guided all operations of Hellenic Bank and in practice has led to the smooth transition into a Green Economy. For a second year, Hellenic Bank actively takes part in the Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition network, an environmental initiative, with members that include leading banking institutions from around the world, aiming to coordinate environmental actions of consumers, financial institutions, traders, and cities, to strengthen efforts in the restoration and protection of forests.

Hellenic Bank invests in sustainable development, consistently plans its actions, reducing its ecological footprint and contributing to social welfare and corporate governance (ESG). A recent success was the issuing of eco-cards using materials from the Mastercard Sustainable Materials Directory, and this year Hellenic Bank will implement the same practice for Visa cards.
