The #HBVolunteersChallenge campaign began during the Pancyprian Volunteerism Week in December 2021 and was completed in early 2022, with more than 2,290 voluntary participations from the staff and the collection of more than €17,400 in donations. Through the #HBVolunteersChallenge, all of the Bank’s Divisions were invited to set up their own activities, encouraging the staff to voluntarily participate in actions that contribute to the prosperity of society as a whole.

During this time, 19 Charitable Organisations & Associations were financially supported, including Alkionides, the Anoikti Agkalia group, St. Loucas Community, Kentro Apostolos Pavlos, the Cyprus Autistic Association and more. At the same time, 470 “parcels of love” were offered to families and elderly in need, while 47 families received support through the “Adopt a Family for Christmas” campaign, which was once again launched by the Pancyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council.

Significant assistance was also provided to organisations such as Round Table 7, with the purchase of a special MobiChair Floating Beach Wheelchair and its delivery to the Municipality of Paphos; the Hope for Children, with the support of children staying at the Hope Houses; the Majestic Horse Therapy, for the relevant treatments of children facing financial hardships; the Ronald McDonald House Charity, with the purchase of electrical appliances; the Miracle Babies Association and the Thermokoitida Agapis, with support for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Makarios Hospital; the Nicosia Dog Shelter, with the purchase of animal feed; and more.

Despite the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the staff’s contribution to all these actions was extremely moving, as they generously and enthusiastically offered their full support.

Beyond the voluntary and charity actions organised by Hellenic Bank throughout the year, the #HBVolunteersChallenge has now been established as an annual institution, promoting the spirit of altruism and giving. In fact, for the #HBVolunteersChallenge 2020, Hellenic Bank was the first organisation to be honoured for its contribution under the Pancyprian Volunteerism Week.
