Aiming to set the tone for inclusivity and inclusion, Cyprus Forum, the largest independent policy-making conference in Cyprus, is coming back for its third year on 29-30 September at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre.

The 3rd Cyprus Forum will take place with the general theme of ‘Inclusivity’. It will feature significant speakers, including European Commissioner Dubravka Šuica, Noam Chomsky, former Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and Yale sociologist Nicholas Christakis.

As stated by Nicholas Kyriakides, Executive Chairman and founding member of the Cyprus Forum, “at this year’s Forum, we want to set the tone for inclusivity and diversity. We want to push Cypriot society to become more open and socially just”. Various issues will be discussed that concern Cypriot society going beyond the issues of diversity and inclusion. Specifically, the panels will discuss smart cities, electric mobility, euthanasia, artificial intelligence, participatory education, the circular economy and more. He also emphasized that one of the main objectives of this year’s event is the further involvement and participation of our Turkish Cypriot fellow citizens, with discussions on practical issues that concern both communities.

Furthermore, one of the innovations for this year’s conference is the allocation of all discussions to renowned organisations and research centres. This will ensure that the discussions are conducted and analysed according to a scientific method, encouraging relevant organisations to continue discussing and implementing the contributions. These organisations include the Office of the Special Adviser to the Secretary General of Cyprus, the Delegation of the European Commission, the European Parliament Office, the University of Nicosia, CMMI, CIM, CYENS, PRIO, the Hellenic Observatory at LSE, ELIAMEP and the World Bank.

The Forum will feature notable speakers, including renowned American intellectual and political activist Noam Chomsky (remotely), European Commissioner Dubravka Šuica, MEPs Niyazi Kizilgiurek and Stelios Kymouropoulos, the first Cypriot analogue astronaut Eleni Haritonos, Professor of Social and Natural Sciences Nicholas Christakis (Yale University), Professor of Organizational Behaviour Daniel Efforn (London Business School), chef, restauranteur and author Asma Said Khan, Professor of Computer Science Eleni Mangina (University College Dublin), Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the United Nations Dr. Michal Mlynar, and Adria Zafeirakou, recipient of the 2018 Global Teacher Prize.

The Cyprus Forum is organised by the non-profit, NGO Oxygono, in collaboration with the Delphi Economic Forum. You can book tickets, view the draft agenda and side events, and find more information on this year’s conference website: http://2022.cyprusforum.cy/.
